  1. Built this from the ROG layout years ago, the TLC2272 is the one you want, the Ti TLC2272CP or TLC2272CD will do?

    1. taken from runoffgroove - "We suggest using a TLC2272 for the dual op-amp. The TLC2272 is rated for low-noise and rail-to-rail output, which will offer the highest possible clean boost and dynamic range. The NE5532 is another good choice, but a TL072 can also be used with decent results." tlc2272cp is a low noise rail to rail op amp . a tl072 is not . i discovered a supplier for a DIP 2272 (the recommended op amp chip) - its available from a company called "futurlec" now the shipping did take 3 weeks last order . on the upside they have 4 dollar flat rate shipping . i have been using this circuit as a "front end" for class d amp boards for many years . to my ears , yes it is "worth it" having the proper chip in that the circuit is quieter with less hiss and it seems to perform slightly differently , slightly less gain . that being said its not bad with a tl072/ne5532 . i am THAT type of builder who doesnt mod everything or insist the people who designed it didnt know what they were doing. i can hear a difference , but consider the source - i dont play thru a dimed big muff , anymore .
