  1. built, but getting a splatty, farty sound. i don't see any errors in the layout, but i also can't find any faults in my build :/ probed around and found that the crappy sound starts right after the first gain stage, out of pin 1 on IC1. curious if anyone else has an issue. I'll take a look at it again tomorrow with fresh eyes.

    1. check the snubber cap there, if that got toasted during assembly, it could explain it.

    2. was really hoping it was the snubber cap, but alas... this one is really stumping me. only thing that seems off is that I'm getting around 8.75v on the output of that first gain stage. but I'm by no means an expert so that may be expected. and fwiw, there's no continuity between pins 1 and 8, so that track cut is doing its job.

    3. hey bro, the problem is the vero. that snubber cap? for all intents it looks like someone just placed it there arbitrarily. its effectively a short between the output of the first stage opamp and the inverting input. if it were a snubber, going to ground may have some effect, but where its put doesn't seem to make much sense. it would seem temporarily lifting it on one side may be worth trying.
also, check your gain pot.. it really should have the 100n cap shown for gain 3 changed... i'd move it down one row, and ditch that 56p, as shown its possible to smoke a pot... the cap will block the dc there. may seem the same, but it will be different.
i'd have to look up to be sure, but this appears to be based on the suhr riot pedal... if ya google up the schematic, it may help ya.
      good luck bro

  2. Haven't built it yet, but comparing the schem with the layout, it appears to check out correctly. Hopefully we can get this sorted if it's a common issue.
Thx for this one - was hoping we'd get it on vero soon.

  3. looks to be yet another surh riot clone sans clipping.

  4. still haven't had any luck with my build, so I quickly whipped up a layout with onboard pots ('cause lazy). I used the schematic that's linked above, and it works fine (which makes sense, PedalPCB know their shit). so I'm guessing there just must've been an error in my build that's mis-biasing that first gain stage. i might give it another go in a week or so if no one else verifies it before then. as always... thanks for the layout, Anders!!

  5. I've built it, but I'm having the same issues as brain (muffled, farty, splatty sounding). I've tried replacing the electrolytic capacitors and the input cap with different values, but to no avail.

  6. A cutt is missing on row G/7. Gain 1 is not suposed to connect to Vref.

    1. Thank you, dragão. The cut helped with the issues, but based on the results of my bulild I wouldn't call this verified yet. Still doesn't sound right to me. I'm using MC1458P instead of LM1458N, perhaps that's the culprit. For anyone building this, consider using 100kC for Gain, worked better for me. Also, the Tone is very subtle.
Thank you for the layout, Anders, I wish you speedy recovery!

    2. i can guarantee you that a 1458 is a 1458. that won't do it. most likely the idiot who designed this crappy circuit has no clue what he's doing, and just arbitrarily changed some values on some components. if ya look at the schematic, its basically a suhr riot... that may help ya find the issue.

    3. Tell us how you *really* feel about Missing Link Audio 😂

    4. You've got to love the sales talk on some of these boutique pedal companies, 'The pedal uses a pair of carefully chosen premium dual opamps for the best tonal balance possible'. Lol

    5. I looked up a demo out of curiosity, and it sounds pretty good. Of course it's basically just a Suhr riot without the diodes, so that's not surprising. I gotta say, the whole shtick of so closely mimicking bands logos that it almost creates an implied endorsement is probably not going to end well. Also - 50 years of pedal experience? Like ... he bought a Big Muff in the 70s? What does that even mean?

    6. the new YATS lol. i read some of that crap, and it was obvious the guy doesn't have a clue. and re-inventing the fuzzface... whoa, that's so new! lol
i wish him luck. i agree, i have a feeling that some of the logos he's using may lead him into nitemares down the road.
not my circus, not my clowns, lol
its kinda funny to see this on a diy site, there's so many different circuits out there that frankly sound better.

    7. Hey Dudley/D, I Build it, and the 1458 don't work properly in mine also. But it´s sounding great with a LM833. If that helps...

    8. Thank you, dragão. I agree, it does sound better with LM833.

  7. Pinkster is correct about this builder. The peacock pedal is just a zen drive

    1. Speaking of Zen Drive ripoffs, this guy and Mason at Vertex are probably related, or at least best friends. Like, remember when Mason kept name checking John Mayer trying to create an implied endorsement so JM's legal team served him a cease and desist? I get the feeling this guy is about to have the same experience with Billy Gibbons legal team.

  8. Hey guys.
'Tottaly forgot this one. I guess I should tag it?

  9. Thanks for the layout. I had the original on the bench for repair so I could compare them. They sound pretty close, if not identical. I used a A50k for the volume to get a better sweep. I've done a short demo on YouTube:
    https://youtu.be/LN5Kg9bZok8
It runs straight into an absolute clean 100w Dumble style tube amp on a very low volume. I think, this pedal sounds pretty good.
    Cheers.
