...and silicon version.

  1. Buil it. It works, but with very low gain. Then I checked the schematic... Should'n't the 100pf cap near 47uF link to 47nF instead of D3, that is, one row above? Anyway, I change it this way and the beast comes alive.
So You can tag it, and thanks again. Great pedal!
By the way, the 100uF cap is for power filtering purposes?

    1. Yes, 100uF and cermaic 100nF is power filtering.
      See this updated schematic:

  2. My mistake! Allways misreading all ceramics as pf.

    1. Trying to wrap around my head what change you did. Layout matches the schematic but you moved which cap to where?

  3. Found it! A bad ground solder. Now it is absolute by the layout and perfect! Awesome sound! Thanks again and excuse me for the confusion.

  4. And yes, the layout matches the schematic. Absolutely! But these bat eyes of mine are absolute disgrace. :O(

  5. Thanks for the layout! Got it started, just waiting for some parts to finish it.

  6. Hey fuzzhead would you consider this one... http://files.effectsdatabase.com/docs/schematics/dod_fx59.gif

    1. Not sure if it is worth the effort since it is almost identical to this:

  7. Hey guys, what do those "transparent" parts in the layouts mean? Are they optional?

  8. Nevermind... It's because of the holes... Sorry.

  9. But in the reverberation machine layout there's a "clear" resistor. What's that?

  10. That’s a “CLR” a current limiting resistor.... it’s used to drop the current before it hits the led. Usually between 2-10k

  11. I built this and everything sounds normal and , but when i get the input and output volumes turned up good and loud it starts to do a hi pitch squeal. Ive run into this problem before with distortion circuits, does anyone know of a common fix to this hi pitch frequency?

  12. Hello Fuzzhead,
Thank You for the Layout. Built it yesterday and it works great. on it’s own or boosting another Dirt Pedal ...
    THANK YOU !

  14. I was looking for a Harmonic Percolator with more common parts. This one sounds pretty cool. Thanks!

  15. hi guys, congratulations for the blog! i built this awesome fuzz but to my ears it sounds too high .... is that a feature of the pedal? Where can I modify the circuit to get less high frequencies? thanks for any help you can give me

  16. Yeah it’s harsh but the percolator is, of course, associated with Steve Albini. He’s known for that metal on metal sound. However, if you fiddle with density and diodes and input you can find all sorts of sounds. Even full fuzz and stuff appropriate for blues or whatever you’re into. I personally like the nasty stuff. But this version is pretty flexible.
