Hey Anders, I was looking at the tagboard layout of this circuit. It claims the diodes are "unknown black glass diodes with a .5 voltage drop"... hm... do you think the Soviet d311 germaniums might do the job? I'm going to give it a shot and let you know
D311 has a very low voltage drop, the ones i've meassured has a vd at 0,12-0,13 so it is closer to a 2N5817. I guess you should si signal/rectifier diodes or shottkey with higher vd like 1N6263.
After a little digging online, I think that I will only need a pair of 1n4001 diodes. Seems like those have pretty close to what is needed for forward voltage drop. Let the dying squeak noises begin!!!!
