Jen KPS-900 Phase Shifter

Similar to MXR 45 phaser but the pesky J FETs is replaced by a CD4007 chip so no transistor matching is required.

 Schematic avaiable HERE

  1. Hello fuzzhead .. for weeks now I’m trying to finish the problem from my build of phase 90 ( sabrotone ) .. I’m so tired ,, I see today your schematic and I try it because I need a phase!!!!!!!!

    1. You'd better go for the Faze Filter if you want something close to the phase 90. Phase 45 is a more subtle effect (only 2 phase stages intead of 4)

    2. Or the Grand Orbiter which sounds great (layout is verified)

    3. Ohhh thank you ,,, today I finish the kps-900 ,,, I send if is verified :D

    4. The faze filter is unverified ... but I try that for similar to phase 90

  2. The links are 12 not 11on the layout . King regards

    1. Hello KG .. do you make the phase 90 from sabrotone layout ? Maybe ?

    2. What do you mean : if i have already built it, or if i plan to do it? I didn't built the specific layout you mention, and I don't plan to do so either :)

    3. because you say that you are phaser nerd .. I have some problems with this layout ( sabrotone) and I wondered if you had made it.

  4. (By the way, it seems that your picture is slightly cropped at the bottom. Everything is still readable, unless you have some things written below?)

  5. Soooo guys just finish the test of this board.. it”s work ... but I have some things to tell .
1st- the speed knob work on 0 and little 2-3 position , after that position I can’t hear the effect .maybe need another value of pot
2nd - the intensity knob work on 10(full) potition and little back .. maybe need and this another value
3rd - the 3 pin of speed and the 1 pin of intensity still unsolder? Can I solder on ground ?

    That’s it ,, it’s work ...

    1. Thanks for giving it a go!
According to the schematic, lug 3 of Speed and lug 1 of Intensity has no connection. Connecting these to ground would proboably mess things up. You could try to add a small jumper between lug 2 and 3 for Speed and 1 and for Intensisty....could make a difference but I doubt it.

Curious which op amp you use? Part number can affect the the behaviour of the LFO. I'll tripple check the LFO section which is located at 5,6 and 7 at IC1.

Also dues the trimmer affect the sound at all?

    2. . Oh yes for the insonlwr pins I see now from schematic . I use LM324 ... I try the smaller link between speed and intensity ..for speed pot I use linear and not antilog. Does make much difference ?

    3. I connect the pugs but I don’t see any difference ,,, I turn the trimmer now from the other side and work better :) ... and the speed knob is upside down ,, the slowest ion the 10 and the fast is in the 0.

    4. After reading the thread at FSB it appears that a 10uF cap works much better than a 4,7uF cap. The LFO should be much slower with a higher value. Worth trying out?
Will swap the connections for the Speed control....

    5. mmmm i try to change the 4.7 to 10 uf cap...the full speed its reduced little. sound is better..i start to love it a much

    6. somthin last .. the r3 i put 15 kohm ..if i put more like 20 kohm or 22 kohm.. what happen?

    7. I think it will affect overall output volume...if you increase it there will be slifgtly less output.

    8. I try to put a 47k trimmer instead r3. .

      Hi,
has the layout been updated yet, or should we swap the connections?

  8. Instead of the zener, could I sub a 78l05 4.5v instead?

  9. Only getting a clean signal with the *faintest* phase. I used a 4007UBE, so not sure if it needs the buffered version. Will tinker abs report back.
