MTK traced this pedal and sent gutshots and component values to AlexS who sent them to me to make a schematic and a proper layout with all components on the board. Still, there is some offboard wiring to do since it is two circuits in one enclosure.
So what is it? Essentially an Electra Distortion going into a Meathead with an input/output selector switch.
Once again, thanks to MTK for tracing this!
Hell, i do this, works perfectly ! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI use slots for clipping diode, i prefer with Leds.
Test with 2N5088 n'3904 for Q1.
BC459c in Q2 but i prefer with BC107. BC108 for Q3.
Also add slots for ''heavier'' first cap. 47n sound good and 470n too.

Merci!
DeleteI have tagged it and thanks for the small build report.

ReplyDeleteLove this, thanks again
Wow, looks better than the real ones!
DeleteThanks for posting this one! I was curious about this one (love the Conan graphic) and just built it. It sounds pretty rad with both switches engaged but the "Fuzz" channel sounds a bit low compared to the "Burn" channel when using one over the other. I'm going to keep playing with different values. Q1 doesn't seem to do much despite swapping some of the values, Q2 seems to drive the "Burn" channel and Q3 seems to drive "Fuzz" channel.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have to give a shout out to evilarsen's etched build! That looks incredible!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo playing around with this one and I think the key is to play it into a slightly dirty amp (or just an amp with a bit of gain). I normally test my new builds on a clean channel to avoid them sounding too muddy and this one seemed a bit low-volume & underwhelming when using just the "Fuzz" switch. However, I turned the Gain on my Marshall to about 3 or 4 (9 O' Clock) and it totally changed the sound profile without pushing this into a muddy mess. I'm going to revisit a few of my other builds to see if it changes my perspective on them! Thanks again!
