Catalinbread Naga Viper

  1. This is one of my favorite circuits. I actually prefer it over most of the Ge treble boosters I've tried over the years. I have built a handful up for family and friends but not with this layout. Next time I do so, I'll try this one out. From a glance everything looks good.

  2. thank you for the layout. you can call it verified ( my 2n2222 flat side facing right ) and i used B2k pot instead of the B1K.
    Sounds great.

  7. I miss my JAX Fuzz/Wah...FUZZ II is a wall of bliss! Nice to see a schematic. I bought that pedal in 1984 during the " Analog old junk, new digital is king" era. Bought so many pedals for $15-$20 at the ironically 'vintage guitar' stores in Hollywood. The JAX I dug out of a catchall wire mesh trashcan near the exit for $5.

  9. Just remade this because I thought I should do it neater - it's one of my favourite pedals.

  10. Thanks for posting this one! I built it not knowing anything about Treble Boosters...this is pretty awesome. Now I'm going down the rabbit hole and looking to build a few others.

Can anyone verify - is the "Range" on this one supposed to work in reverse? It seems like when I turn it "down" it gets heavier/more distorted but when I turn it "up" it gets quieter. I thought about moving to a 500Kc or flipping the wiring but not sure if I made an error (or if this was expected behavior).

  11. Just a detail that I thought I'd offer as a useful mod for this simple but very nice circuit. Adding an input control is easy and in some applications necessary. I think the MKII has one actually. Use either a 50k or 100k linear pot. Connect board in to lugs 2 & 3, and switch in to lug 1. Allows you to place the boost somewhere other than first in line on your signal chain.
