Well, with this mods, it works. I don't know if I liked. I am change some values to put more bass and mids in it. Ah, I verified the new FZ2 layout too. Thanks anders.
The layout as it'is now does not work, because the 10k resistor (pin3 ic3) is short-circuit.Therefore:eliminate the cut S17.Make cut in S18 under the 220n Cap and place 10k (pin3 ic3) in R17 and S17. With these changes it works.
wow, that sounds great, was wondering what you were up to next;-). Big thanks for addressing the mistakes, these are now corrected and your demo is added to the post.
lol I don't know why I've been aiming at these large builds lately. I built 2 huge dual layer/stacked PCB builds from a guy on Madbean too.
Dude, this 5150 just bumped the G4 to 2nd place. It sounds so good. I just had it cranked and it brought nothing but smiles and killer tone.
I've been eyeing that layout you've been working one recently. The Doom/Dronestortion. I mean, let's be honest, you had me at the name alone. That one's next.
What!? It beats the G4? It seems that I have to build this then.
Dronestortion/Doomstortion is quite the opposite of tight metal distortion. Nothing comes close to Megalith but it is in the same vein; rumbling bottom end and angry highs.
Yeah, at least to me, it's a badass sounding pedalb with an OD boost. By itself, it's solid, but not high gain enough to be in the same class as the G4. I've been all about that pedal since last October and I'm still a fan but there's something about this one that sounds right to me. The EQ could use some tweaking but the base sound is schweet.
In the Baja scheme, the 47k resistor is present and connects from Bass1-Mid3 to ground.I also like how it positioned before, from High1-Low2&3 to Mid1-Level1,accentuates the midrange, but also without, so l select with switch.I omitted the led and clipping transistor, improving the Low note and decay .Regards
Yo! Im giving this one a go, i think i count 56 cuts?
ReplyDeleteYes, 56 cuts it is, Thanks for the headsup. Looking forward to hear if you can make this monster working.
DeleteI built it, but it isn't working. Do you have the schematic?
ReplyDelete1k from gate of Q1 is 1M and is missing 10k resistor from + of IC3a to vbias
DeleteThanks for catching the errors. layout is updated.
DeleteHigh 2 is missing bellow sw6 from 1uf and low 1 and mid 3 with 47k to ground
DeleteYes. You could do a hack by connect the 47k resistor between Low 2,3/High 1 and pad J 31 which is grounded. finger crossed it will work by then.
DeleteI had to add a collumn to the updated layout above to fit in 47k resistor.
Yes, linked directly from the pots, but no luck.

Deletemid 1 and lvl1 are 1 line above
ReplyDeleteand a cut is missing between ic4 + and vbias

ReplyDeleteGreat job Marcello! Thanks for verifying, I'll tag.
DeleteWhat!? You did Boss FZ2? That's great news. I'll tag that one as well.
Thanks for your Jobs i did this and found error : two missing cut under 10k and 220n Pin3 ic3, 1uf pin3 ic4 to be connected to sw3 or high2
ReplyDelete10k pin3 1c3 on one side,to the toner side to 1M vref.
ReplyDeletetra cm S18 cut, track T17 cut.Now works is verified.
Forgot:1uf Pin3 ic4 to be connected to high 2
ReplyDeleteThanks! Layout updated.
DeleteBass1-mid3
ReplyDeleteCut S17 goes S18.10k from R17 to R18
ReplyDeleteSorry. 10k from R17 to S17

ReplyDeleteThanks! Did the changed but it required a standing resistor....
DeleteThat's ok.The word bass1-mid3 is missing.
DeleteGotcha. Added the notes.
DeleteThis thing is a ripper. It sounds killer, especially when you throw in a boost from an OD. Definite keeper. It was a decent size build.
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple things:
the cut count should be 56
High 3 connection label for C/32
And that 47K resistor on the top right needs removed

Cheers, man. As always, thanks for the layouts.

ReplyDeleteAnd I counted 58 cuts...pretty certain it is 58 cuts:.-p. Updated the notes.
