Hey everyone, I just built this up and it is by far one of the best versions of the Foxx Tone Machine I've done! I used some soviet d9e diodes because I'm out of 1n34a's at the moment, but it is BURLY! You can tag this one, Anders - it's KILLER
The tone control is not BMP values, but it functions quite similar. it keeps the mids inherent in the circuit and moves the tone sweep around them. and if you dial the response (which is a fuzz attenuator so you can stack other gain pedals if you want) and the blend (which brings your unaffected bass frequencies back in a BIG way) in right, this has WAY more mids than a stock tone machine. More output, too. It seriously improves on just about everything bad you could say about a Tone Machine... and it doesn't feedback either!!!
Hi! Your review got me very very interested in this ahahah. One question - how did your build behave in regards to pedal stacking/buffers? I am not sure if the OG foxx was finnicky, but I think I had problems with a build a while back
Hey! Sorry I didn't respond earlier - I can't post comments from my phone, only from my laptop... anyway - the "response" pot on this attenuates the gain so that the pedal behaves better if there is something like an OD or buffer before it. Also, I have built your Big Muff+FZ-2 EQ circuit a couple times now and I love it. Nice Work!!!
Same for me, I can only comment in my laptop. Thanks for the feedback, I'm eager to try this one, and a couple other VFEs! Also I'm glad you liked it - the last one I built I ended up replacing the BMP section with green russian values, and it's my favourite :)

ReplyDeleteGreat Chris!
DeleteLooks likes the most versitale Tone Machine out there. The only missing addon Iwould be a Mid switch for the tonestack.
